Slingshot Weekly (9/3/25) | Better Questions, Braver Growth
Sep 03, 2025Sometimes we don’t need new answers - we need better questions.
When we feel stuck, it’s rarely because we aren’t capable. More often, it’s because we’re circling the same surface-level questions: “What job should I get?” “What’s the right path?” “What if I fail?” These are safe questions. They keep us busy but rarely move us forward. They focus on outcomes instead of who we’re becoming. But what if, instead, we asked deeper, braver questions—the kind that push us past comfort and force us to get real with ourselves?
Questions like:
-
What kind of person do I want to become?
-
What would I do if I stopped waiting for permission?
-
What would happen if I trusted myself enough to begin?
These types of questions don’t just look for answers. They shift direction. They expand what’s possible. They help us trade fear for curiosity and hesitation for courage.
A small change in language can unlock an entirely new mindset. Consider the difference between “What if it doesn’t work?” and “What if it does?” That simple shift changes the energy. One is rooted in fear. The other is rooted in hope. One stalls action. The other sparks it. Better questions don’t always come with easy answers. In fact, they often don’t. But they lead to something more valuable: self-awareness, perspective, and movement. They give us permission to stop waiting for the “perfect” answer and start experimenting with possibility.
Think about the leaders, creators, or change-makers you admire. Their stories rarely begin with a perfect plan. They often start with a bold question. What if this could be different? What if I tried? What if I didn’t give up? That willingness to ask differently - to frame the unknown as an invitation - changed everything.
You may just be circling the wrong questions. The ones that no longer serve you. The ones that keep you safe but small. This week, challenge yourself to ask differently. To re-frame. To go deeper. Because the right question isn’t just about getting an answer—it’s about sparking growth.
So here’s your invitation: Ask like your growth depends on it - because it does.
Reflection Questions:
-
What “permission” have you been waiting for - and what would you do if you stopped waiting?
-
How might shifting from “What if it doesn’t work?” to “What if it does?” change your next step?
-
What’s one powerful new question you can begin asking yourself this week?
