Job Title: Student Opportunity Coordinator
We are looking for a high-impact Student Opportunity Coordinator to serve as the central hub of our career connected learning ecosystem. If you are a world-class "doer" who can balance building authentic relationships with a relentless drive to execute, this is your role. You will be the primary catalyst connecting students to 200+ transformative career experiences—from informational interviews to job shadows to internships—ensuring no lead is left cold and no checklist is left unchecked.
“If you’re the person your friends call to organize the group trip because they know you’ll handle the logistics, be sure everyone knows the plans AND make sure everyone has a great time—you’re exactly who we’re looking for.”
Who You Are
To excel as our Student Opportunity Coordinator, you must be a "hybrid" talent who thrives in both the spotlight and the spreadsheet. You are:
- A Natural Catalyst: You don’t just meet people; you connect with them. You have an innate ability to walk into a room (or a Zoom call), build instant rapport, and get them to want to be a part of this initiative.
- The Ultimate "Doer": You have a bias for action. While others are still brainstorming, you’ve already sent the follow-up email and booked the next meeting.
- Obsessively Organized: You are the "King/Queen of the Checklist." You find peace in a clean CRM, a color-coded calendar, and a project management tool where nothing ever slips through the cracks.
- A Dynamic Communicator: You can tailor your message to anyone—whether you’re pitching a CEO on an office tour or prepping a student for a job shadow. You are persuasive, professional, and clear.
- Goal-Oriented & Resilient: You aren't intimidated by the number "200." In fact, you find it motivating and are shooting for 250. You view a 15-month contract as a sprint to see how much impact you can possibly create.
- Reliable & Responsive: You understand that being the "Hub" means being the most responsive person in the network. You take pride in your reputation for impeccable follow-through.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the "Hub": Act as the primary point of contact for all external partners, fostering a seamless flow of information and opportunities between industry (businesses in our area) and partners of the Mpower mentoring initiative with LaunchNW.
- Drive Opportunity Procurement: Proactively identify and engage industry partners to secure 200+ unique student opportunities (informational interviews, job shadows, internships, tours, and guest speaking engagements) within a 15-month cycle.
- Connect Students to Industry: Build and maintain a "go-to" database of reliable business partners in a wide variety of industries to facilitate career connected learning opportunities.
- Field student requests from Mpower mentoring partners (CBOs/schools/Site Coordinators/College Navigators/etc) to help students explore potential career opportunities.
What Success Looks Like
In this role, success is measured by the quality of the connection and the quantity of the output. You’ll know you’re winning when:
- Partners reach out to you first because you make the process easy.
- The 200+ opportunity goal is met (or exceeded) ahead of the 16-month deadline.
- Every "spoke" in your network feels informed, valued, and organized.
Qualifications
