Slingshot Weekly (6/18/25) | Use Passion As The Compass
Jun 18, 2025
Put your hand in the sky if you’ve ever felt stuck trying to “find your passion.” Is it up? Ours is, too.
Somewhere along the line, many of us were told passion would arrive like a lightning bolt - loud, obvious, life-altering. But for most people, it doesn’t look like that. Passion doesn’t always shout. Sometimes it whispers. And the only way to hear it… is to start listening differently.
Maybe it’s that one random class you didn’t think much of at the time but still remember. Or the podcast episode you keep replaying in your mind. Or that thing you were “just helping with” that didn’t feel like work at all. These aren’t distractions. They’re breadcrumbs.
And those breadcrumbs? They’re pointing somewhere.
We often put pressure on ourselves to have a concrete five-year plan, to name our passion, title it, build a brand around it. But what if the goal isn’t clarity—at least not right away? What if it’s direction?
Curiosity doesn’t always offer a map. But it does offer momentum. It says, “There’s something here - follow me.” And when you choose to follow it - again and again - it has the power to lead you somewhere deeply aligned.
The truth is, you don’t have to wait until you have all the answers. You don’t need permission to explore what draws you in. You need to pay attention to what keeps showing up. Follow what feels like yours, even if you don’t fully understand why.
Some of the most fulfilled people didn’t start with a perfectly clear goal. They started with a question. A spark. A feeling. Something they couldn’t ignore. And they let that guide them.
Ask yourself:
-
What do I keep circling back to, even if it feels random?
-
What have I dismissed because it felt “too easy” or “not serious enough”?
-
What gives me energy when I do it?
-
What question won’t leave me alone?
-
What would happen if I followed that thing—just to see where it goes?
Keep going. Something beautiful might be waiting around the next corner.
Don’t wait for your passion to arrive fully formed. Build it one breadcrumb at a time.
You don’t need a lightning bolt.
You just need a breadcrumb.
You need the courage to follow it.
And the curiosity to see it through.
