Slingshot Weekly (11/5/25) | Letting Go With Purpose
Nov 05, 2025There’s a quiet kind of courage that doesn’t get enough recognition - the courage to stop, reassess, and let go.
In a world that glorifies the grind, we’re often told that progress means pushing harder, climbing higher, doing more. But sometimes, growth isn’t about addition, it’s about subtraction. It’s not about collecting more achievements, but about clearing the clutter that blocks your purpose. Maybe you once said yes to a dream that made perfect sense two years ago. Maybe you committed to a version of yourself that felt right at the time. Or maybe you’re still holding onto a plan simply because you said you would, even though every part of you is whispering, “This isn’t right anymore.”
That whisper matters. It’s not a sign of weakness - it’s a signal of wisdom. We don’t get stuck because we’ve failed. We get stuck because we’ve outgrown something that once fit. The job that used to excite you, the major you once loved, the path you once believed was “the one", they were all valuable for a season. But sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is admit that a season has ended.
Letting go isn’t quitting. It’s recalibrating. It’s realignment in action. It’s standing in the mirror and saying, I can choose again. Think about the greats who’ve done this. Michelle Obama left corporate law to pursue community work. Steve Jobs was fired from Apple before returning years later with a clearer vision. Simone Biles stepped back from the Olympics to prioritize her mental health. None of them quit. They realigned. And in doing so, they made space for their evolution.
Real alignment means checking in with yourself, often. It means asking the hard questions: Is this still right for me? Is this still bringing out my best? Is this still who I want to be becoming? Because adaptability isn’t just about changing when the world forces you to—it’s about choosing to evolve when your inner world calls for it.
When something no longer fits, it doesn’t erase its value. The experiences, relationships, and lessons that shaped you are still part of your story. They were the bridge to where you stand now. But bridges are meant to be crossed, not lived on.
Growth doesn’t always roar. Sometimes, it whispers: “It’s time.”
